The US News and World Reports have released their Best Colleges Rankings for 2024, which significantly change the focus on student outcomes and social mobility. These rankings evaluate 1,500 colleges and universities using up to 19 unique measures of academic excellence as an extensive tool for prospective students and their families to make informed decisions.
This year’s rankings feature the most significant methodological modification in the rankings’ history, placing a greater emphasis on advancement in society and student outcomes after graduation.
More than fifty percent of institutions’ placement now comprises different outcomes that concern the success of enrolling and graduating students from different backgrounds. However, there were five parameters that used to play a crucial role: size, alumni giving, proportion of graduates borrowing federal loans, high school standing, and faculty with terminal degrees. These parameters are now eliminated from the evaluation process.
The Best Colleges for 2024 are calculated using 19 key measures of academic quality to calculate the results for national universities. Also, for calculating rankings for National Liberal Arts Colleges, Regional Colleges, and Regional Universities, 13 key measures are adopted.

The Best Colleges rankings also include undergraduate economics and psychology degrees. Moreover, the majority of rankings are based on the most innovative colleges and institutions with a significant commitment to undergraduate teaching.
